About Macrae

Macrae is a multidisciplinary artist known for his high-impact rock band poster art for many of the legends of music including classic artists like RUSH, The Moody Blues, Stevie Nicks, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and others as well as modern acts like Rage Against The Machine, Nine Inch Nails, TOOL, System of a Down, The Mars Volts and many others. Rooted in the visual language of vintage concert flyers, psychedelic art, and DIY counterculture, his work blends bold color palettes with expressive textures and layered composition using a combination of hand drawing and digital art.

Macrae has collaborated with artists and photographers including some of the greats including original psychedelic photographer Karl Ferris and his iconic photographs of Jimi Hendrix and got his start mentored by 60s rock poster icon Bob Masse.

Some of Macrae's art has been featured in magazines, movies and TV including the TV show American Horror Story (Coven season) and his art has been displayed in galleries worldwide including Europe and Australia. He has also attended and exhibited at renowned art show throughout the USA including TRPS in San Francisco, SXSW in Austin TX and the Prints and Pints art show in Vancouver WA. His latest show will be in February at BLUNT GRAFFIX in Eugene Oregon for the "Dead Rockstars" event.

What began in the early 2000's as band posters for local venues evolved into a signature art style that resonates with collectors, musicians, and fans of music culture.

Every piece Macrae creates is designed to resonate with fans of the bands involved if it's a concert poster or reflect his creativity through his art prints. Macrae continues to explore new creative territory while staying true to his roots: art with attitude, movement, and depth.
